Laptop running slowly

If your laptop is slow, freezing, or taking a long time to start, try the steps below.

Quick fix

  1. Restart the laptop properly.
  2. Close unused applications and browser tabs.
  3. Check that the laptop has enough battery or is plugged in.
  4. Wait for Windows updates to complete if they are running.
  5. Try again after restarting.

Raise a ticket if

  • The laptop takes more than 10 minutes to start.
  • It freezes repeatedly.
  • You see disk, memory, or update errors.
  • The issue affects teaching or learning.
Tip: When raising a ticket, include your school, room/location, device name and a screenshot of any error message.
