Outlook email not sending or receiving

If Outlook is not updating, emails are stuck, or you cannot send messages, try the steps below.

Quick fix

  1. Check your internet connection.
  2. Close Outlook completely.
  3. Reopen Outlook and wait two minutes.
  4. Check whether Outlook says Working Offline or Disconnected.
  5. Try using Outlook on the web.

When to raise a ticket

Raise a ticket if:

  • Emails remain stuck in Outbox
  • Outlook asks repeatedly for a password
  • You receive a sync error
  • Outlook Web works but the desktop app does not
Tip: When raising a ticket, include your school, room/location, device name and a screenshot of any error message.
